Choose the viscosity and standard your owner's manual specifies. API gasoline engine oil categories start with S — API SQ is the latest, following API SP — and API says the latest category can be used where an earlier one was recommended. If your manual lists an ILSAC standard, look for its mark on the bottle too.

What viscosity does my gasoline car need?+

Use the grade in your owner's manual. The number before the W shows how the oil flows when the engine is cold — lower flows more easily at start-up. The number after shows its thickness at operating temperature. Not sure? Ask a store before ordering.

What's the difference between API SP and API SQ?+

Both are API gasoline engine oil categories. API SQ (2025) is newer than API SP (2020). API says SQ is designed for protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in both fresh and aged oil, plus improved timing-chain wear and high-temperature deposit protection, and the latest category can be used where an earlier one was recommended.

How often should I change gasoline engine oil?+

Follow your owner's manual first. Our guideline is full synthetic 10,000 km, semi-synthetic 7,000 km, mineral 5,000 km, or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Each card shows the interval for that oil.
